If you're used to driving around Colonial Boulevard and 6 Mile Cypress, you have probably noticed a lot of construction changes over the years.
Some say this new diverging diamond is causing a lot of traffic while still under construction.
"I think it's crazy they need to stop building," said Nanci Barfoot.
Nanci Barfoot knows the roads in Fort Myers because she's lived here for years.
She says lately, Colonial Boulevard near the I-75 on-ramp is a nightmare.
"It's very confusing. I am surprised there are not more accidents," Barfoot said.
Crews working to finish the diverging diamond, but all this work came with several changes in the intersection's traffic patterns to keep the busy stretch of road open during construction.
"I know I try not to get off on Colonial from 75 because there is always a lot of traffic," Barfoot said.
FDOT started piecing together the diamond in July. They say it should be completed by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
