Local insurance agent Reid McDaniel was arrested Thursday and charged with a felony for embezzling his client's money.
The client, Paul Kluczynski, said McDaniel took his $22,000.
Former clients of McDaniel Insurance Solutions said they have had problems with McDaniel and his insurance company, too.
McDaniel was Kerri Kibbe's only hope after Hurricane Ian.
"My current homeowner's insurance went into solvency," Kibbe said. "So, I had repairs not done and an open claim with nobody to pay for the repairs. That's when I heard of McDaniel's Insurance Solutions and reached out to him. He was able to write me with Triple-A Insurance because Triple A was the only one writing older homes with insurance claims open and repairs not done."
Fast forward a few months, Triple A dropped her, so she reached out to McDaniel to see what was going on.
"A couple weeks go by, I started calling," she said. "It was no answer. I started sending emails."
His assistant said not to worry because it was with underwriting. However, two weeks later, she got a cancellation letter from Triple-A. They canceled her home and car insurance.
Then, McDaniel wrote her with Progressive, but he was two days too late.
"When Triple-A canceled me, McDaniel took two days to write me with Progressive, which then I had a lapse of two days," Kibbe said.
She reached out to him several times, but he never got back to her.
NBC2 spoke to Kluczynski on the phone Wednesday. He declined an interview. Former McDaniel Insurance Solutions employees either said they aren't allowed to talk or "no comment."
