The Lee County Sheriff's Office grew in size on Wednesday, adding two new furry friends as therapy dogs.
Two Golden Retrievers, Rollie and Lawrence, were donated from Naples to the sheriff's office by the Golden Paws Crisis Care K9s.
They are specifically trained to offer resources to someone dealing with a mental health crisis or in need of emotional support.
"When a nonviolent person is experiencing trauma, the need for social services is president and the Crisis Care K9 unit will be utilized across the county. For example, behind me you can see our K9s recently participated in a grief counseling for a group of juveniles at the Valerie house in Fort Myers," Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.
Sheriff Marceno says he hopes to grow the program in the future.
