5-A, District 12: Immokalee to secure the championship
Moving to 5-A, District 12, we see another exciting race among talented Collier County schools. Golden Gate, the surprise winner from last year, faces significant challenges with many key players gone. Gulf Coast’s robust defense could make them a strong contender, but our pick for the district title is Immokalee.
The Indians have a hard-nosed defense and a challenging schedule that should adequately prepare them for district play. A key matchup between Immokalee and Gulf Coast on October 25th will likely determine the champion. Given Immokalee’s defensive prowess and preparation, they are positioned to come out on top.
Private school district: FBA and CSN in a close contest
In the private school ranks, the competition for the district title is intense, with Community School of Naples (CSN), First Baptist Academy (FBA), and St. John Neumann in the mix. While CSN has significantly strengthened its roster and head coach Michael Stannard has made impressive strides, FBA remains our top pick.
FBA, under the guidance of Billy Sparacio, is a perennial state championship contender with a roster full of talent on both sides of the ball. Their schedule is formidable, and it’s challenging to find a loss in their lineup. The district title race will come down to a crucial October 25th matchup between FBA and CSN, but FBA’s depth and experience give them a slight edge.
