DeSoto County deputies arrested a man after a traffic stop revealed a stolen antique slot machine with silver buffalo nickels.
Deputies responded to the Arcadia Truck Stop on Thursday for reports of a burglary.
According to reports, Andres Vazquez, 31, was caught on camera forcing open a locked door, snatching a slot machine and securing it to an electric bike before leaving.
After a foot chase from his home, Vazquez hid in a nearby backyard, even climbing onto a roof to avoid being caught.
Eventually, Vazquez came down and was arrested.
Deputies searched his property where they found a U-Haul with the stolen slot machine inside, along with bolt cutters and a backpack that had a gun inside.
As a convicted felon, you are not allowed to possess a firearm.
Vazquez is at the DeSoto County Jail facing several charges:
- Failure to register as convicted felon
- Burglary
- Possession of a weapon
- Resisting and officer
- Damage to property
- Larceny
- Burglary of tools
- Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
- Drug possession
- Drug equipment possession
