Cape Coral police arrested a man after he allegedly stole $19,000 worth of materials from a posted construction site in May.
Alejandro Rodriguez, 32, is facing multiple charges after being caught on surveillance camera leaving a construction site with a trailer.
On May 23, around 7:30 a.m., a Public Service Aid responded to a construction site in Northwest Cape Coral and took a report for grand theft.
The project manager explained that ten windows and four impact sliders were delivered earlier in the week, but were gone when the installers came the day after delivery.
CCPD found security cameras in the area while investigating which revealed a dark grey pickup truck with a trailer driving through an intersection near the home.
The contents in the trailer appeared to be several windows and sliders, according to CCPD.
The detectives followed the direction of the truck through traffic cameras and were able to find Rodriguez's license plate number.
Investigations revealed that Rodriguez was hired to deliver the windows and sliders and provide an estimate for installation that included four total measurements.
However, Rodriguez was not chosen to do the job himself. Therefore, he went back to the property and stole the windows and sliders that the builder had paid for.
Reports say Rodriguez planned to sell the property he stole to a different buyer for $6,000.
Rodriguez was arrested and is facing charges of one count of burglary, one count of dealing in stolen property and one count of grand theft from a posted construction site.
