The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking team is monitoring a tropical wave over the open Atlantic Ocean for possible development in the next week.
It's important to stress that there are no local concerns from this tropical wave for the time being. As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the wave remains disorganized and located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
In the image above, the region highlighted in yellow is where any development would be most likely to occur.
The probability of development is being pegged at 0% over the next two days. Over the next seven days the chances of development are presently at 20%.
It's too early at this time to say for sure if the wave will develop into an organized system and from there where it may eventually track. At this early stage in the setup we're simply in track and monitor mode.
No other areas of concern are present at the moment in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean Sea.
