The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman accused of prostitution after an undercover operation in the area of Fort Myers.
Deputies say the focus of the operation was to have an undercover detective meet with an unknown female and give $400 for sexual favors.
The female was identified as Kathya Maldonado, 40, after an undercover detective met with her at the Days Inn on Daniels Parkway.
A detective contacted Maldonado through text messages, informing her that he had arrived. Maldonado told the detective the room number and greeted him at the door.
The detective went into the room and asked what $300 would get him. At this time, the detective gave Maldonado the $400.
Reports state he then went to the bathroom, which signaled members of the Lee County Sheriff's Office to move toward the room.
Detectives then knocked on the door before Maldonado answered and was detained.
Maldonado was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail, where she is facing charges of prostitution.
