On Tuesday, five years after the gruesome murders of two Cape Coral women, Wade Wilson will finally learn the consequences of his actions. Life in prison, or death.
First, Wilson's defense team will present more evidence before his sentencing Tuesday morning.
"Strangulation alone is heinous, atrocious and cruel. Why? Because the victim is aware she is going to die. The victim knows what is about to happen as that perpetrator's hands are wrapped around her neck," a member of the prosecution said.
A jury recommended the death penalty for Wade Wilson after finding him guilty of brutally killing two Cape Coral women: 35-year-old Kristine Melton and 43-year-old Diane Ruiz.
Wilson's defense team is still trying to spare him the death penalty on the day of his sentencing.
Last week, NBC2 told you Wilson was going to undergo brain scans after a doctor said he could have possible brain injuries.
On Tuesday, the defense will be bringing in the doctor to talk about those scans.
During Wilson's trial, we have seen and heard from many who have taken the stand, such as Wilson's father, Kristine's best friend and Diane's son, who was only a freshman in high school when his mother was murdered.
"On my 15th birthday, I almost killed myself because she wasn't here," Diane's son, Zane Romero, said. "I refuse to disappoint her even in death because it keeps me going every day."
Wilson's sister wrote to the judge stating her brother had been overtaken by disease and drugs, pleading for him to spend life in prison.
More than two dozen women across the country have also written to the judge pleading for his life.

Wilson's Spencer hearing is set for 9 a.m., followed by the judge's decision expected at 2 p.m.
