The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking team is monitoring two areas of interest across the Atlantic for potential development.
It's important to stress that there are no local concerns from the tropics at this time. The northern area of low pressure is few hundred miles southeast of Bermuda. Dry air and strong wind shear is expected to limit this region from development as the disturbance heads northeast at 10 mph.
Farther south, the second area of interest may show some development this weekend into next week. The next name on the list is Francine.
The probability of development is being pegged at 0% over the next two days and 20% over the next week.
No other areas are present at the moment in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean Sea but the statistical peak of hurricane season is less than two weeks out. Count on the NBC 2 Hurricane Tracking Team to keep you informed.
