Right now, residents at Fantasy Island Mobile Home Park are in crisis.
Last Friday, they were shocked to receive a 194-page legal document notifying them of a foreclosure on their property. They also found out they are being sued along with their property manager, Hugh Reid. The lawsuit lists them as "unknown tenants in possession."
The County Clerk’s website shows that mortgage payments haven’t been made since October of last year. However, residents have shown NBC2 proof that they have been paying their rent each month.
The park has also fallen into disrepair since Hurricane Ian. Residents have shared photos showing the neglected and unsanitary conditions. Recently, one resident was seen putting down rodent repellent to deal with pest problems caused by the unkempt units.
Residents are expecting to hear from the property owner this Saturday. Despite the challenges, they are determined to fight for their homes.
