Just days after receiving the death penalty, Wade Wilson pleaded no contest and accepted a plea deal to close his pending cases, sending him to death row faster.
Wilson pleaded no contest to smuggling drugs in jail in 2023. As a part of the plea, his charges were dropped regarding his attempted prison escape in 2020.
Wilson was sentenced to death on Tuesday after being convicted of killing Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, on Oct. 7, 2019.
Wilson was facing the following charges:
- Attempted trafficking in amphetamine or methamphetamine
- Conspiracy to traffic in amphetamine or methamphetamine
- Escape or attempt to escape as a prisoner
- Criminal mischief of $1,000 or more
Now that his pending cases are closed, Wilson now waits to be transferred to Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, FL.
