An Alva woman who is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence was convicted Thursday of drug trafficking.
Stephanie Proffitt was sentenced to nine years for trafficking in fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance immediately after the conviction Thursday afternoon.
According to the State Attorney's Office, this sentence will run consecutive to the 30-year sentence.
Proffitt was convicted in December 2023 for an abundance of drug charges.
The State Attorney's Office said Thursday's conviction stems from a traffic stop conducted by the Lee County Sheriff's Office in October 2023.
According to the news release, Proffitt was a passenger in the vehicle. Fentanyl and oxycodone were found in her possession.
The driver of the vehicle has a pending case and is awaiting trial, officials said.
