The week 2 Friday night high school football game between Lemon Bay Manta Rays and Cape Coral Seahawks has been postponed.
The cancellation comes due to a "medical outbreak" within Cape Coral's team.
The news was confirmed by Cape Coral's head coach Tyler Murphy and the Lee County School District.
The school district issued the following statement:
"Out of an abundance of caution to avoid spreading a non-serious but contagious illness, Cape Coral High School is postponing tonight’s football game with Lemon Bay High School. We are in the process of rescheduling the game later this season."
Both the Manta Rays and Seahawks have the same bye week later in the season. It is possible that a makeup game could be scheduled then, but it's not guaranteed at this time.
