The Hendry County Sheriff's Office arrested two men after they allegedly abandoned a camper trailer and led deputies on a chase on Wednesday.
Around 3 p.m., Hendry County deputies saw two cars leaving the area of Helms Road and Summer Drive.
Deputies say it appeared the two men had abandoned a camper trailer in that area.
When deputies tried to attempt a traffic stop, the driver of the first vehicle, identified as Alejandro Deraz, 29, reportedly refused to pull over.
Reports say Deraz continued to drive through stop signs in residential areas, reaching speeds of 50 miles per hour.
Detectives say Deraz was throwing small plastic bags out of the windows while driving.
Deputies deployed stop sticks along Cowboy Way. Deraz turned onto Collingswood Boulevard, driving into a field where he exited the car before deputies were able to get him.
The second vehicle involved was caught in the area of Tea Court and East Broad Circle. The driver, Samuel Marquez Santos, 19, was arrested and is facing charges of driving with a suspended license.
Reports say Marquez Santos was later released on $500 bond.
Deraz was taken to the Port LaBelle Annex for questioning before being transported to the Hendry County Jail.
Deraz faces multiple charges, including failure to obey a traffic control device, fleeing and eluding, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, destruction of evidence, and littering over 500 pounds.
Reports say he was released after posting a $43,000 bond.
