A 23-year-old man was shot and killed outside his Lehigh Acres home a month ago and no one has been arrested yet.
On Friday night, friends and family of Cedric Durant Jr. , also known as Joonie, gathered on 28th Street Southwest and lit candles in the spot where the 23-year-old took his last breath.
Logan Nash said, "He's one person you can go to when nobody else was there. You know, he's one person you go to. All your problems just vanish."
Jalynn Williams, Joonie's first-ever girlfriend, said, "We don't want to remember him as the way you know he passed. You want to remember him as the uplifting, the one who was there whenever we needed."
On July 30, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said Joonie and his brother were gunned down outside their home.
Joonie's brother survived, but unfortunately, he did not.
Joonie's big sister, Ken'dayzha Outten, said, "I immediately started screaming, broke down praying, begging God to please give us some type of something. Let us say our last goodbyes or something."
Joonie's mom, Talika Durant, said she watched her son die after he was shot five times.
Durant said the past month without her son has been "beyond hard."
"Not eating. Not sleeping. Trying to be strong for my kids. But how heartbroken," Durant said. "He was loving, caring, to know him was to love him. Joonie was the life of us."
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said the case is active, and they are working with the State Attorney's Office.
Durant said, "Be honest. Just tell what happened. Do the right thing rather than reaching out to us. Reach out to the detectives. Just do what's right. Turn yourself in. Do what's right."
