After pleading no contest and closing pending cases, convicted killer Wade Wilson was transferred from the Lee County Jail.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office website, Wilson was released from the Lee County Jail around 1:32 a.m. on Friday.
LCSO says he was transported to the Florida Department of Corrections, where custody was turned over to Lake Butler, Florida.
The sheriff's office says extra precautions were taken during transport as he is a high-profile inmate.
Wilson was convicted of killing two Cape Coral women, Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, in Oct. 2019.
The transfer comes the day after Wilson was sentenced for pending drug cases from 2023. As a part of the plea deal, his escape attempt from prison charges from 2021 were dropped.
Wilson will eventually end up at the Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, Florida where he will be on death row.
