The Fort Myers Police Department announced they have cleared the suspects in the investigation of a possible abduction of a child walking home from the bus stop on Thursday.
According to FMPD, officers responded to a call of a suspicious van at a bus stop in the area of Dynasty Drive and Cypress Legends Circle.
Detectives responded to the scene around 6:20 p.m. where they say they found a black van. They gathered that the van had followed a male student from his bus stop around 5:30 p.m. and tried to lure him into the vehicle.
The investigation determined that the van was driven by parents who were waiting to pick up their child from the bus stop. Police say the parents mistook the victim for their child and tried to get their attention to pick them up.
The parents were interviewed and ruled out as suspects, FMPD said.
