Collier County deputies arrested a convicted felon after he allegedly entered an elementary school in search of a cellphone.
Steven Gonzalez, 33, was reportedly seen looking into school classroom windows at Highlands Elementary School.
According to reports, Gonzalez entered the school and exited through the back around 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
The caller told deputies Gonzalez was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up before walking through building five's hallways.
Gonzalez then exited the school and jumped the fence.
Deputies located Gonzalez and began an investigation.
Reports say Gonzalez admitted to being on school grounds to look for a cellphone. He said he saw a cleaning crew on the campus but did not know there were still students in the building.
Gonzalez was arrested and is facing charges of trespassing, disrupting a school function and failure to register as a convicted felon.
Reports say Gonzalez was issued a trespass warning for the school.
