A 17-year-old boy from Lehigh Acres died after a crash along State Road 82 near Harcourt Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two vehicles were heading westbound on State Road 82 at high speeds.
An SUV and a sedan were ahead of the two vehicles as they approached the T intersection of Harcourt Avenue.
Troopers said the sedan the 17-year-old boy was a passenger in collided with the SUV. The collision forced the SUV into another vehicle.
The sedan then veered onto the north side curbed shoulder, collided with a street sign and launched into the tree line. According to FHP, four people were in the vehicle.
The 17-year-old boy was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. The vehicle's driver, a 17-year-old boy from Fort Denaud, and the two other passengers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
Troopers said a white vehicle that was next to the sedan leading up to the crash drove off from the scene, and FHP is searching for the driver.
