The purpose of Cape Coral's newest operations building is to ensure residents will have uninterrupted wastewater service.
That water is often used when you water your lawn and or garden.
The old operations building was built during the 1990s and has been deemed unsafe for use.
The city first broke ground on the new facility back in 2021 and was originally supposed to open in 2023.
The new Southwest Operations Building and Warehouse is designed to withstand a Category Five hurricane while keeping critical conditions, instrumentation and city staff safe.
It will also include the city's first vehicle charging station for future city-owned electric vehicles.
The price tag, $15.6 million from the Utilities Department Capital Improvement Fund.
A private ribbon cutting is set for Friday morning.
