On Wednesday, Cape Coral City Council will discuss how much it should cost to park a new parking garage coming to downtown.
The Cove at 47th will bring 300 luxury apartments to downtown Cape Coral along with 19,000 square feet of retail and office space, and a 600-space parking garage. The garage will have 125 spaces for public parking.
City staff compared parking prices to other cities in our area and came up with the following suggestions:
Billie Mortice owns Dog Days Grooming, which is just a block away from the apartments. She says customers complain about a lack of parking all the time.
"I think it's great news. We definitely need more parking down here in Cape Coral," Mortice said. "You have bike night and a lot of bars and restaurants down the road. It will help a lot with parking."
Wednesday's meeting starts at 9 a.m. The city will also go over the progress of the Cove at 47th. According to the city's website, 100 apartments and the garage are slated to open sometime this month.
