The search for the suspected gunman accused of shooting five people in Kentucky, including a Fort Myers couple , is continuing on Monday.
Joseph Couch, 32, is accused of shooting down from three different perches along I-75 in Laurel County. The sheriff's office says Couch struck nine cars and five people with bullets.
Among those five people were, Renee Walker and Erick Tabin who live near Fort Myers High School.
Walker confirmed that she is out of the hospital, but as of Monday - Tabin is still recovering.
The manhunt began on Saturday with crews setting their attention near the Daniel Boone National Forest.
The U.S. Marshal's Office and the FBI are now aiding in search efforts.
According to our sister station, WLWT in Cincinnati , Couch's Toyota SUV was found on Saturday night.
On Sunday, authorities say they recovered an AR-15 that Couch allegedly used in the shooting, along with a "thousand rounds of ammunition."
According to officials, Couch has a military past, serving at least four years in the Army Reserves. Couch reportedly bought the gun legally.
Officials believe he fled into the wooded area near the interstate, and in an update on Monday - Kentucky State Police say they hope Couch is being "worn down" and will eventually come out of the woods.
According to data, 48% of Kentucky is covered by forestland - which is about 12.4 million acres.
Kentucky Trooper Scottie Pennington said they're using drones to search the wooded area for any signs of Couch.
"We're going to keep goin'. It will probably expand. And that's just the job we signed up for," Pennington said.
WLWT is reporting that schools in the area were closed on Monday in an "abundance of caution."
In an affidavit supporting the charges, Couch allegedly texted a woman on Saturday around 5:03 p.m. stating, "I'm going to kill a lot of people. Well try at least."
He then allegedly sent another text saying, "I'll kill myself afterward."
Kentucky State Police have announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Joseph Couch. He is 5'10", 154 pounds, and is considered armed and dangerous.
