An all-new food truck spot will be the first-ever in Cape Coral and NBC2 got a sneak peak of all the progress so far.
Slipaway Food Truck Park and Marina will offer a waterfront destination for everyone near and far.
"Not only is it a great asset for the city of Cape Coral, we think it's a great asset for the entire community in Southwest Florida, and we expect to attract visitors from Sarasota to Marco," Slipaway Food Truck and Marina part owner Gary Aubuchon said.
If you've driven past Cape Coral Parkway east just near the Cape Coral Bridge then you have seen the sign for the latest waterfront attraction.
Construction is underway for the Slipaway Food Truck Park and Marina, and Aubchon says they're right on schedule.
"Construction started a few months ago and we're right on schedule. We're looking for an opening, next spring. The spring of 2025. And we're really excited about that," Aubuchon said.
The foundation has been laid for all eight buildings and structures.
This new destination park will offer ten different food trucks, seating 300 guests and up to 500 guests for special events.
Crews are working on the roofing for the central pavilion which will offer a waterfront bar.
Ship's store is also underway which will offer grab-and-go beverages and merchandise.
New sea wall installations is also part of the construction as there will be 30 boat slips plus a fuel station.
"So when you come to slipway, you can get your personal fuel for yourself. You can get fuel for your boat as well," Aubuchon said.
The goal is to have this new destination ready for you before one of Cape Coral's biggest events, the Red White and Boom.
