A 17-year-old Fort Denaud boy has been arrested after a deadly crash that happened along State Road 82 near Harcourt Avenue in Lehigh Acres.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two vehicles were heading westbound on State Road 82 at high speeds.
An SUV and a sedan were ahead of the two vehicles as they approached the T intersection of Harcourt Avenue.
The sedan Josue Rodriguez, 17, was driving collided with the SUV. The collision forced the SUV into another vehicle.
The sedan Rodriguez was driving veered off the roadway, and a passenger in the vehicle, a 17-year-old Lehigh Acres boy, was ejected from the vehicle. The Lehigh Acres teen was pronounced dead on the scene.
Four vehicles were involved in the crash, and the whereabouts of a white vehicle are still unknown at this time.
According to FHP, Rodriguez was arrested Thursday and booked into the Lee County Jail.
He is facing the following charges:
- Vehicular homicide
- 1 count of reckless driving with serious injury
- 1 count of reckless driving - personal injury
- 2 counts of reckless driving - property damage
- Driving while license suspended - 1st offense
FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
