An Estero family who lost their home to a fire Wednesday says looters ransacked what was left of their home in Estero.
Their mobile home at Covered Wagon Mobile Home Park burned down due to an electrical circuit failure on the birthday of one of the children who live there.
Since then, Marcela Medina says while they have received so much help, others have taken advantage of their tragedy, stealing clothes, money and perfumes.
"God Bless them because maybe they needed it too, but it's not right. Because they see how we are, and they take advantage of that," Medina said.
Despite these setbacks, Medina's family says they received an outpouring of support from the community. Strangers donated clothes, furniture, food, and even opened up a GoFundMe page for Medina.
"It helps a lot; I'm very surprised because they move quickly, and I've seen donations," Medina said.
