The Minnesota Twins released Fort Myers Mighty Mussels catcher Derek Bender who's accused of tipping pitches to opposing teams.
Mighty Mussels catcher Derek Bender was released from the Twins organization Thursday night.
Bender reportedly told opposing hitters the types of pitches that were being thrown during the team's final series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
Lakeland coaches reportedly told Fort Myers about what was going on behind the plate.
Lakeland won the game in which Bender was accused of tipping pitches 6-0, which ultimately eliminated the Mighty Mussels from the playoffs.
Bender allegedly told teammates he wanted the season to end after playing just 19 games with the Mighty Mussels.
Bender has yet to comment on these claims.
