The United States Coast Guard has suspended the search for 70-year-old missing boaster Bert Erwin who was last seen Monday near Marco Island.
The Coast Guard states the search was suspended after finding Erwin's 37-foot boat with no one aboard, 28 miles off the coast of Englewood.
Rescue crews searched over 8,000 square miles.
Erwin was heading toward Indian Rocks Beach in St. Petersburg, but someone contacted the Coast Guard saying he never reached his destination.
