A 12-year-old boy is facing a felony charge after being accused of threatening another North Naples Middle School student on Snapchat.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office say Fearson Minning, 12, posted a picture of a gun with an extended magazine on Snapchat , tagging another student with a threatening caption.
"Talking all at but one do nun let's have a shootout abt it," the caption read.
Deputies say they were made aware of the threat on Sunday around 10:30 p.m. after receiving a tip from Fortify Florida about a North Naples Middle School student making threats online.
Deputies responded to Minning's house and spoke to both him and his father.
According to documents, deputies completed a home safety check. The father told deputies that he owns guns and ensured them that they are secure and Minning does not have access to them.
Deputies instructed the father to bring Minning to school first thing Monday morning in order to speak with detectives and school administration.
Minning told detectives that he gave his friends permission to share his Snapchat amongst themselves.
According to CCSO, Minning is facing one charge of written electronic threat to kill, do bodily harm to another.
