Lee County Commissioners approved more than $4.6 million in federal funding to build a new roundabout at Gunnery and Buckingham roads on Tuesday.
If you have driven through the area, then you know how dangerous the intersection can be - and with a new development coming in right across the street, this will will really be needed to improve safety.
This comes just weeks after a new traffic light was installed up the road at Buckingham and Cemetery roads, which has also been know to be very busy.
18 locations throughout Lee County were studied for the value of installing roundabouts, and Gunnery and Buckingham roads were ranked number two.
The purpose is to promote safer and smoother traffic flow.
The goal is to start work on this project in early 2025.
