Charlotte County deputies are investigating an "active scene" in North Port, near the Charlotte County line Wednesday morning.
According to CCSO, the scene is on US-41 near Cornelius Boulevard and S Salford Blvd.
Both directions of traffic on US-41 are closed as deputies investigate the area.
CCSO says the intersections of S Cranberry Blvd/Tamiami Trail and S Salford Blvd/Tamiami Trail will be shut down for the foreseeable future, as of 9:50 a.m.
According to reports, there is no anticipated threat to the public, but CCSO asks that everyone avoid the area as they work the scene.
