An 18-year-old is dead after being shot along Grapefruit Lane on Saturday night, in what deputies say was self-defense.
Just before 11 p.m., deputies responded to a home in Punta Gorda regarding someone who had been shot.
CCSO says a girl, 17, and a man, 18, invited a 17-year-old boy over to rob him.
The sheriff's office said when a gun was pulled on the boy, he pulled out his own and fired before fleeing the scene.
Deputies say it appears to be self-defense.
CCSO found the teen and detained him. The sheriff's office says this is an active investigation.
