As the City of Cape Coral asks residents to secure items that could become projectiles ahead of storms, residents are afraid they might see items like Port-A-Potties flying into their yards.
After Hurricane Ian, Cape Coral residents saw the
portable toilets in front yards and in canals.
It's a big concern for Victoria Woods who lives along Northwest 10th Terrace, just yards away from an unsecured portable toilet unit, concrete blocks, and trash in large containers at a home under construction.
"They won't come out and take care of it or do any maintenance on it or clean or take it away," Woods said. Right now, we're really concerned about the storm coming, and we know that in the last storm or the last storms, there have been so many issues."
Woods said the property was under construction, but hasn't seen anyone working on it for months. Stakes outside the home say it is under construction by Beattie Development. The company was raided in August due to fraud allegations.
"There's no one taking accountability for this porta potty. And the storm is just a little bit away," Woods said.
NBC2 also called the portable toilet company. It said it was contacting the property owner.
