Florida theme park Busch Gardens will close on Thursday as Hurricane Helene passes off the coast of Tampa.
The company said in a news release, "Our weather preparedness plan is in place and extra precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of our animals during this time."
In preparation for the upcoming storm, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay said they will draw on their more trhan 60 years of experience operating in Florida to implement comprehensive animal safety protocols.
A team of animal care experts, including veterinarians, will remain onsite 24/7 to monitor the animals, housed in buildings designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
Once weather conditions improve, the Busch Gardens recovery team will ensure the habitats are safe for the animals to return.
