Collier County announced on Wednesday that three safe havens are opening on Thursday beginning at 6 a.m. due to Hurricane Helene.
People living in areas prone to flooding from storm surges and rainfall events should consider staying with friends or family out of harm's way.
If you have no other refuge available, Collier County will be opening three safe havens at the following locations:
- North Collier Regional Park – 15000 Livingston Road, 34109
- East Naples Community Park – 3500 Thomasson Drive, 34112
- Golden Gate Community Center – 4701 Golden Gate Parkway, 34116
Safe havens are not shelters. They are meant to be temporary and do not provide food service or other comforts. Residents are asked to bring appropriate items with you to the facility.
Dogs and cats are allowed at safe havens, and owners are responsible for caring, feeding and sanitizing their pets.
The safe havens will close on Thursday at 8 p.m. or as conditions improve.
