Week six of the high school football season in Southwest Florida was one of the biggest and best slates of the year with rivalries galore! In the NBC 2 Game of the Week, it featured two private school powerhouses -- Bishop Verot and First Baptist Academy.
The Lions entered week six undefeated, while the Vikings were looking to bounce back from a tough week five loss against Cardinal Mooney. It was a slow start with lots of flags, but Bishop Verot found the endzone first - a Carter Smith keeper to get the scoring going. FBA's Sam Sparacio broke free on the Lions' next drive, evening it all up at 7 in the first quarter.
The two stayed neck and neck through half and into the third quarter until Bishop Verot slowly started to pull away. The Vikings led by two scores late in the fourth quarter, but the Lions still had some life in them, clawing their way to get within six points. Overall, Verot's defense was able to hold off FBA, handing the Lions their first loss of the season.
FINAL: Bishop Verot 34, First Baptist Academy 28
