Due to heavy rainfall and flooding potential, a Severe Weather First Alert has been issued throughout the day.
Trailing moisture from Helene will keep heavy downpours through the afternoon.
Some communities have already seen 2 to 3 inches of rain, on top of the 3 to 5 inches that have fallen over the past few days.

A lingering trail of leftover tropical moisture from Hurricane Helene will remain over SWFL. This setup will couple with onshore winds and offer our area a round of showers and thunderstorms during the first half of the day. Once we pass the lunch hour on Saturday, the majority of any showers or storms in the area are expected to migrate eastward toward the Atlantic coast. With this, we'll see rain chances drop below 40% by late Saturday afternoon and stay less than 40% through the evening.
Otherwise, it's going to be a warm and muggy afternoon with "feels-like" temperatures ranging from 105-110. Find ways to keep cool today. On Sunday, a few scattered showers or thunderstorms are possible but conditions aren't expected to be as active as early Saturday.
Tracking the Tropics
In the tropics, we have two areas we are keeping an eye on.
The first is a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic with a medium chance for formation. Regardless of it turning into anything, it will stay over water and not impact land.
The other is an area to monitor in the western Caribbean. Though there will be no organization in this region through the weekend, it's possible a system may attempt to form in that area sometime next week. It's too early to determine what if any impact this system may have on land. Should it become something we need to monitor for our local community, we'll keep you updated.
