The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking team is keeping track of several features in the tropics.
Tropical Storm Joyce is the latest storm to develop. As of Sunday morning, the system is spinning in the open Atlantic and will track northwest over the next few days before curving harmlessly north and then dissipating.
We're also tracking Hurricane Isaac in the open Atlantic, which is also another fish storm.
Closer to home, the main area of interest is in the Caribbean Sea, where an area of low pressure could form in the next couple of days.
Environmental conditions are expected to be favorable for gradual development as the potential system moves generally northwestward, potentially entering the Gulf of Mexico by the middle of next week.
Since any potential development is roughly a week away, it's way too early to speculate on whether or not there would be impacts to the U.S. down the road.
Though there is no chance of development over the next two days, the National Hurricane Center is highlighting this area with a 50% chance to develop in the next 7 days.
Elsewhere in the tropics, we're monitoring one more tropical disturbance, with development odds currently 70% in the next 7 days; however, this disturbance is not considered a threat to land at this time.
