The Lee and Collier County health departments have issued a warning regarding water activities following Hurricane Helene.

Bacteria can be in failing septic systems, sewer line breaks, overflowing manholes and wildlife.
Storm surge was the biggest impact in SWFL which means more debris on the beach.
Many beaches are still closed, including Bonita Beach.
The Lee County Health Department reminds people to watch for similar issues when it comes to their pools. Make sure all chemicals are balanced, that the water is clear, and that there is no debris before you go swimming.
Officials say you should follow these advisories until they collect new samples and conditions are safe.
