After months of negotiating, Naples Comprehensive Health and Florida Blue have reached a multi-year agreement.
The agreement will keep NCH's doctors, hospitals and facilities in Florida Blue's network.
"Together with NCH, we look forward to continuing to serve the health care needs of Southwest Florida, and helping ensure access to high-quality care that is as affordable as possible for our members," a statement from Florida Blue read.
Roughly 40,000 patients were in jeopardy of having to pay out of pocket or switch health care providers because NCH was leaning toward dropping Florida Blue.
According to NCH, they were reimbursed 40% less than other healthcare facilities in the regions.
NCH has been working to secure fair reimbursement rates from Florida Blue to manage the rising costs of patient care.
Just last month an open house was held to give patients a better understanding of what was going on.
"What do I do? I have to make a decision. Do I keep Blue Cross Blue Shield, or do I keep all my doctors? Those doctors have saved my husband's life twice. So, I'm. I'm torn. It's not fair," Florida Blue Patient Anna Myers said.
Now, Florida Blue isn't going anywhere.
Members, clients and others will be receiving information in the coming days, and additional details will be forthcoming to all Florida Blue stakeholders.
