It's October, which means Bald Eagle nesting season is officially underway in Florida.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation is working with volunteers to monitor Bald Eagles on Sanibel, Captiva and surrounding areas during nesting season.
SCCF is partnering with Audubon Florida's EagleWatch program.
SCCF says all 10 of the nests they are monitoring have been accounted for since Hurricane Helene, and some eagle pairs are already tending to their nests.
Bald Eagles are very territorial during nesting season, and it's important to give them space so they don't abandon their nesting sites.
