A man is behind bars after deputies say he was caught doing donuts on a freshly paved, $20,000 parking lot.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office sent NBC2 video of a BMW doing donuts at Kurt Donaldson Park off Hancock Bridge Parkway Monday. They say Cape Coral resident Yunior Acosta was behind the wheel.
According to the LCSO report, Lee County spent $20,000 to get the parking lot repaired. They also installed rubber barriers to prevent drivers from doing donuts. Crews just finished the work last Tuesday.
Jean Marc Bonaparte plays tennis at the park almost every day. He says he sees people drive recklessly often. One person almost hit his car.
"They're making all this noise, screeching their wheels and burning rubber in the parking lot. It's awful."
Acosta is facing racing and property damage charges. LCSO says he made an estimated $7,500 in damages.
