Drivers in Naples are doing double takes after a traffic marking error on Immokalee Road left a crucial letter painted backward. Locals are now questioning how such a mistake could happen.
Ben Freeze said, "They just think we’re dumb and oblivious while we’re driving. That’s my taxpayer money going on the ground right there—it’s outrageous!"
The error is located on Immokalee Road, heading east near the Tarpon Bay Boulevard intersection. The word “ONLY” was meant to guide traffic, but drivers quickly noticed something was off: the letter "N" was painted backward.
Stephen Hart, another Naples resident who spotted the mistake, said, "This is what happens when you put your kids into the public school system of America."
"If we can’t have people doing something as simple as that, it says a lot about our current state as a country," Jeison Batista said.
Interestingly, all the other “ONLY” markings near this intersection have been painted correctly, making the backward "N" stand out even more.
We reached out to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to ask how long this has been there and whether they’re aware of the mistake. FDOT says they’re looking into the issue and are working on getting us a statement.
