A former Junior Everblade is making his professional hockey debut with the New Jersey Devils on Friday evening in Prague.
The NHL season officially kicks off on Friday with a matchup between the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres.
Making his pro debut at 1 p.m. EST is Seamus Casey, a former Junior Everblade.
"Ever since the first time I picked up a hockey stick, that's what I've been going for," Casey said when asked about his feelings toward making his debut. "Just really excited...just trying to treat it like another hockey game, but I know once I get out there it's going to feel pretty crazy."
Casey is a defensemen that was selected in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft.
Hailing from Miami, the 20-year-old defender played his collegiate career at the University of Michigan, alongside former Junior Everblade Gavin Brindley .
Casey is now the second Junior Everblade to ink an NHL contract.
“I still have to come out and bring it and just play my game. That was the message, just play your game,” Casey said. “You don’t have to be anyone else. Some rookies it’s tough to settle down and play simple. That’s all I have to do, just play my game.”
Over the course of his career with the Wolverines, Casey posted 74 points on 15 goals and 59 assists.
