Students, families, teachers and staff from schools all across Southwest Florida are likely to be impacted by closures due to Tropical Storm Milton, which is expected to become a major hurricane. Below are schools that will be closed at some point this week.
Glades County Schools
Schools closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Statement : After careful consideration and based on information provided by the Glades County Emergency Operations Center, we have decided to close schools on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the approaching storm.
Collier County Public Schools

Statement: CCPS is monitoring Tropical Storm Milton in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.
We will provide timely updates on all official CCPS communications channels regarding any changes to school and district operations as the situation develops.
Lee County School District

Statement: The School District of Lee County is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Milton. Currently, the National Hurricane Center places Southwest Florida inside the cone of concern for a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday morning. Increased rainfall is expected to start Sunday and into Monday.
At this time, there are no planned closures of our school sites and central office. However, we will work with the Lee County Emergency Operations Center to receive the latest information, which will then be shared with you on Sunday, October 6th.
Please be sure you are subscribed to School Messenger, the District’s Social Media channels, and visit our website to stay up-to-date on possible changes to our school operations. The District will provide daily updates to families with the latest information.

Statement : We are closely monitoring the anticipated storm and are in contact with local emergency management to stay updated on its impact. We will keep you informed and notify you as soon as possible when decisions are made regarding school closures or delays. School will be in session Monday, and we will get an update from emergency management on Monday morning.

Statement: Over the past 24 hours, we have already seen an increase in rainfall that is causing flash flood warnings in parts of Southwest Florida, and the tropical moisture is expected to continue ahead of the storm's landfall...
With all of that in mind, and out of an abundance of caution and uncertainty of where the storm will make landfall, Canterbury School will be closed from Monday through Wednesday . After the storm passes, we will provide further information regarding plans for Thursday and Friday.
