As evacuations continue, the Florida Highway Patrol hopes to alleviate some of the heavy traffic going eastbound from Collier County to Broward County on I-75 (Alligator Alley).
Troopers activated an emergency shoulder use at 9:45 p.m., Tuesday along the interstate to assist in evacuations.
FHP said the emergency shoulder use is only for eastbound lanes along Alligator Alley on the outside (right) shoulder.
The emergency shoulder use begins at Mile Marker 101 in Collier County and extends to Mile Marker 25 in Broward County.
