Power is something that is hard to come by in Punta Gorda following Hurricane Milton.
NBC2 crews visited the area, where they saw a few homes with lights on, but the reality is they are dealing with damage from the hurricane.
Some residents say flooding did get into their homes, and plenty of debris remains in the roadways and on the curb – not just from Milton but also from Helene.
Charlotte County has since set up an online self-reporting storm damage system to help collect damage assessments.

There, you will enter your address, select the type of damage and add a photo. If possible, include high water marks when reporting damage.
The county says you must still take the necessary steps to report any damage to your insurance company and FEMA.
