The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking team is tracking disorganized showers and storms a few hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde islands, in the far eastern Atlantic basin.
Chances for development have decreased to only 20 percent as the disturbance is moving into an environment that is less conducive for tropical development.
However, some models show the storm having a better chance to develop if and when it reaches the Caribbean Sea by the late part of the week. Regardless, strong high-pressure building over the southeastern United States should keep this from coming anywhere closer to southwest Florida
