A 16-year-old girl died during a dance after gunshots were fired into a building in Clewiston.
Hendry County deputies found Ja'Yhanna Johnson unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound at 700 Harlem Tenants Circle on Oct. 11.
Johnson was a student at Clewiston High School.
The Hendry County Sheriff's Office said detectives are interviewing all witnesses and this is an active investigation.

The Glades County School District also issued a statement on Facebook .
"Ja'Yhanna was not just a student; she was a vibrant part of her community with a bright future ahead of her. Her potential, dreams, and aspirations were cruelly cut short, reminding us of the urgent need to stand against gun violence," Dr. Alice Beth Barfield, Glades County superintendent of schools, said in a statement. "As we navigate this painful time, we want to reassure our families and students that safety remains our utmost priority. On Wednesday, there will be an enhanced police presence at Moore Haven High School to help provide a secure environment for our students and staff. While this tragedy occurred outside of Glades County, our communities are closely intertwined, and we stand united in our sorrow and support for Ja'Yhanna’s family and friends."
