The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking team is tracking two features in the Atlantic basin for the potential of tropical development though neither appear to pose any threat to Florida at this time.
Feature One: Invest 94L
The first feature being watched for tropical development is Invest 94L in the central Atlantic Ocean.
At the moment this area of low pressure is in an environment that is not conducive to strengthening. As it moves westward though it may have a easier time organizing. The National Hurricane Center highlights the odds of development in the next 2 days at 30% and 40% over the next 7 days.
It is important to stress that even if a tropical system develops, it would not pose a threat to Florida. This is thanks to the steering currents over Florida as a cold front and area of high pressure would keep any tropical system well south of our area.

Feature Two: Western Caribbean
A cluster of showers and thunderstorms in the western Caribbean Sea is also being marked with the potential of tropical development within the next week.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center says the area highlighted in yellow has a 20% chance of becoming at least a tropical depression within the next week.
The Western Caribbean is often a tropical weather hot spot in the month of October.
It is too early to determine where anything that may develop in the western Caribbean may track over time. But the majority of forecast model data shows anything spinning up here more than likely moving toward Central America.
If either system becomes a Tropical Storm, Nadine is the next one on the list.
